Fern Haven
This project involved the design and decoration of a large ranch-style home near Dallas, Texas, situated on an estate-sized lot. Referred by a previous client, the homeowner sought my expertise in blending collected pieces that traditionally might not go together. With a rich history of living in Russia, Angola, and England, she has amassed an impressive collection of global art and artifacts, along with a unique mix of French country, Texas ranch, and mountain home styles.
The architecture of this home was a dream to work with, featuring two large stone fireplaces, a beautiful exposed brick wall, extra-large windows overlooking the estate, and amazing built-in cabinetry. Our goal was to seamlessly incorporate her diverse collection of art and objects with her Texas ranch and French country pieces.
Key design elements include:
Living Spaces: A harmonious blend of global treasures and local charm, using browns, beiges, and cream colors as a base, with touches of blue, green, burgundy, and shades of purple to add depth and interest.
Art Integration: Large paintings were purchased to complement and enhance her existing collection, creating a cohesive and eclectic gallery-like atmosphere throughout the home.
Architectural Features: The stone fireplaces and exposed brick wall were highlighted as focal points, while the extra-large windows and built-in cabinetry were used to enhance the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space.
The result is a beautifully curated home that reflects the client's unique style and rich cultural experiences, creating an elegant and eclectic sanctuary that tells the story of her life and travels.
